Toyota Adds New U.S. Production and Investment and Jobs

January 25th, 2026 by

Toyota has begun production on three new differentials for its vehicles, which are assembled at the Huntsville, AL, plant. To meet the demand for the latest manufacturing needs, the company also added 350 jobs. This is all thanks to a $282 million investment announced in 2024, which keeps Toyota vehicles, their engines, and drivetrains produced in America.

A Word from Toyota

“These new product lines highlight Toyota Alabama’s flexibility and reinforce the company’s commitment to our team and the Huntsville community,” said Marc Perry, Toyota Alabama President. “Toyota Alabama team members dedicated themselves to mastering the new processes and techniques needed for these products, and they are fully prepared to tackle the exciting challenge of machining and assembling differentials.”

What Does a Differential Do?

A differential is what helps wheels on the same axle spin at different speeds. This helps in many situations and conditions, both on regular roads and when driving off-road. The differential ensures that the outside wheel travels a greater distance than the inside wheel when turning, thereby keeping the vehicle even and stable.

Not Just Any Normal Production Facility

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama is responsible for producing the engines for seven of the nine Toyota models assembled and sold in North America, including the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Highlander, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, and now the differentials for the Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia. The company’s data shows that it produces over 3,000 engines per day, with more than 895,000 manufactured in 2024 alone. The plant has been online since 2003 and has seen a total investment of over $1.7 billion in that time.

Toyota Is Dedicated to Sustainability and The Community

The Huntsville plant has a $49 million solar panel array that supplies over 70% of the plant’s energy. Toyota has dedicated an additional $11 million to local schools and programs that help prepare students for careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

A Word from The Mayor

“Innovation, collaboration, and community are the hallmarks of Huntsville’s growth, and Toyota has embodied those values for nearly a quarter-century,” said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. “This $282 million investment and the 350 good-paying jobs it created are fueling our economy and strengthening our workforce, ensuring Toyota remains at the forefront of industry innovation.”
